So ten days ago, on a whim, I got a pair of convicts. I mentioned this pair in the Monster Convict thread.

I got them from The Wet Spot. They had a colony of them in a big tank, with some other fish in there a couple JDs, a couple Oscars, a mayan cichlid all around 6in or so. So this male had staked claim to the inside of the big castle thing in rhe middle of the tank, he was the biggest male there.

The female I picked out was the best looking one of the bunch, nice set of fin streamers are ready starting.

I thought I would see if what I hear on these forums was true. Get a male convict, get a female, had water = babies. Well it's been 10 days now and guess what, thats right we have babies!!!

I know bad picture, but trust me they are babies, and right after I saw them, mom and dad put them all back in thier house.

Dad had been showing some strange coloring every time I get near the tank. He is in total guard mode, I had to even get a divider, both mon and dad were attacking everything when the babies were out.

See his stripes turn a green color, instead of black. Only goes this color when I get near his babies.

These two are a constant construction crew, look at all this digging they did, they even knocked over thier house from all the digging

So these two proved the forums right. Get one of each sex, add water and you get babies!

This will be the last update:

This pair is no longer in my care. My son's mother has a 40 bredder that is over run with very prolific colony of Platty's so she has then to keep them in check. With that said I will be making a new post with what's taking over the now empty 29g.

One hint think bright red...

Jewel cichlid? But that can't be right, you are posting in the CA/SA section.

The above post was to close out my thread on the convicts since I no longer have them.
And who knows what the new fish are yet wink-wink..
No but really will be posting up soon, just grabbing some lunch after today's water changes, 75 gallons out and 75 back in (2x 55g got 30 gallons changed and 29g got 15 gallons changed) thank God I live in the Great North West, and we have cheap water. It does rain like 300inches a year around here.....So there is that....

Blood parrot?
I love living where I am because we have a set charge for a total of 500,000 litres of water per year. But that has to supply the animal troughs as well.
