So I finally finished my 180 gal project tank some weeks back. And just stocked it with some new world cichlids black convict, green terror, bleekeri and some misc also , I got 3, 3" long Jack Dempsey's that supposedly have the blue gene. Im hoping for a mating pair but I'm not sure on the sex of them yet. I can sex a larger Jack just fine but I cant tell with these. I was wondering at what size the female developers it's "beard"?
Of the 3, 2 of them have more dots under the eyes and are more submissive but they don't have the blotches of color as females normally do nor the blueish beard
The 3rd has basically no dots on the face and is extremely aggressive. Had to move the 2 submissive ones to a 55 for now by themselves
Would it be safe to say I have 3 males or could they still be too small to have developed the "beard" on the females?
