Beautiful fish, bro. The little wolf got spooked by the vulture LOL
Thanks man

Fish and tank are all looking real good jaws. I like the wolf. I never knew there was a wolf fish that stayed small. I always thought those all got to 3-4ft.
I always thought the same but the guys in the charchin section set me straight. Reds and purples stay at like 10ish inches maybe less. Golds i think get somewhere over a foot and blacks somewhere near or at 18 to 24. Dont quote me on that.

Think the biggest I seen was like 9 3/4” for reds. That’s TL. Purples generally stay a little smaller. Biggest gold in captivity I’ve seen was 14” from a member here. Blacks rumored to get to 30” however through pictures we’ve only seen ones claimed to be 24” one member had one for a few years that was 18”. Very believable mine hit 15-16” after three years with me and I got it at 8”. Mala we’ve seen at 20” that one died from a Ray I believe. I’d say they can get to 24” maybe more given enough time. Microlepis is a Hoplias species that is supposed to stay small. Australis don’t seem to get over a foot much. Lac are supposed to get to 3’+ and aimara 4’+. Vince has a 38” aimara right now and says he’s looking at importing a larger one. Biggest confirmed size. Wes says he has a friend with one that’s 55” in a 10k gallon tank. Provided a picture as well but I’m pretty skeptical seeing how slow they seem to grow. I’d say maybe 4’. But I’d love to be proven wrong. There’s also that old video of the aimara with arapaima in a large tank. That guy said it weighed like 70kg but didn’t give us a length. It was caught at that size of course.

glad to see an update. It seems like the wolf and the team are getting along pretty well. The polys are so personable. Everytime I see Tiana (endli), I say hi lol.

What part of the water column do wolves usually swim in? are they more of bottom dwellers like polys and cats?

Woke up this morning to my kids and wife yelling at the fish. They said the wolf was chasing the jag cat.
Amazingly shes still alive. I have her in the 75 with the little bufonius cat. I did a heavy dosing of ridxand am keeping my fingers crosssed.

Sorry to see frank. Hope the jag pulls through. Keep the water clean and I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
