J jaws7777 sorry I’m late to the party, been really busy with work.. here are some pics of my Koliba.. yeah I would think they’re the greener variant as compared to a koloton.

With regards to comparing it to a PBB, I think PBBs edges it for me

Just have to reverse my above statement on Koliba/koloton and perhaps rouse people into a discussion The Koliba in the pix above turned out to gold/rusty (2nd and 3rd pix below) whereas my koloton (first pix below) is green

We need your other monsters in here. Especially mr t would be good for newer members to see how the physical appearance is different between smaller pbb's like mine and the big boys like yours.


I remember being told the difference would be the messy patterns on koliba and the more organized patterns on koloton towards the tail. Appears that way in your pics.

Some also say they are the same fish. What do you think.




My koloton resembles yours. Mine is probably smaller though

J jaws7777 ill be sure to try and post more often. One thing I’ve noticed (may be erroneous) is that 1) koloton are almost always bulkier than koliba, 2) the former has messier patterns throughout its body whereas the latter has recognisable blocks along its spine, and 3) Koliba = gold, koloton = greenish.

But who knows really, I don’t really think they are the same fish since the variation in colourstion is a little too extreme - but these are just my incoherent thoughts lol

I think they are different fish too. But never having owned a koliba its tough for me to say for sure

I owned two koloton before and they have a clean pattern and more organize, ill try to get some koliba with this tank and we’ll see how it would look.
