I am getting a 40 gallon tank and I never had a predator tank so i want to try it. I do have a Endler breeding tank so if I have to I could use them but I would not do that unless it is needed. What could be fish that I could put in it

Dwarf pike cichlids, pike livebearers, African butterfly fish, African brown knife, green spotted puffer, or Amazon leaf fish.

Anything that eats another animal, insect, larvae, etc is a predator.
A neon tetra is predator, in fact most tetras are predators.

Guppies, and your Endlers are predators, they eat mosquito larvae and other insects.
All Bettas are predators

Betta albimarginatta above, like a mini snakehead, but would actually be appropriat for your size tank.
To me, anything that gets larger than 4" is too big for 40 gal tank.

Red wolffish has my vote. A 40b is perfect for them and they’re absolute predators

There's many freshwater puffers to fit the bill. I once kept a Congo puffer in a 40 gallon Breeder I couldn't get it to eat anything dead it only wanted live prey.
