Hey rob do you know which river this is from? I am just working on an id of this one. It is indeed a tometes in breeding colour but not sure which one as of yet. Will be able to tell by the River.

From some Google searching, I found a Facebook post calling them “sweet water pacu”

I’ll try to find out exactly what river. The man in the photo is Rovin Alvin. He’s the guide in Guyana that takes people to these fish. Gordon Ramsey and Steven Rinella featured him on their shows.

Steve Rinella stated it’s the Rewa River in Guyana above the Corona Falls. He had to take a boat up the river, then hike it through the jungle around the falls to get up to the fishing rapids.

So this one is called tometes lebaili in its breeding colours. I may have to make an order some time in future after seeing this ?

That is indeed the fish as well as the same guide...and I see that it does have the fin extensions, which I failed to spot while watching the show. Stunning creature; I wonder if it looks like a grey log when not in breeding dress. Thanks to everyone for pitching in with way more info than I had found myself.
