Pics? Could even be internal parasite keeping your fish from absorbing full nutrition (which would stunt growth).
That never even dawned on me. That very well could be the case, especially if it came from a pet store with an overcrowded tank.Pics? Could even be internal parasite keeping your fish from absorbing full nutrition (which would stunt growth).
His poop seems normal just a crap load of it lolGive it another month, maybe he will have a growth spurt for lost time. He seems healthy and in good care. If he really doesn’t grow it’s a problem bc they grow like weeds. Keep a look out for stringy white poop that could be the reason.
He eats like a pig anyway but sure I’ll throw in an air stone and see if it helps he does also get aeration from the filter outlet but the airstone will keep him occupied as he usually attacks all the bubbles in the tankIncrease the dissolved oxygen in the water. I read a study about farm raising tilapia years ago.
For fish to digest food in their stomachs they need oxygen in the water for the process.
If the oxygen levels are low the food digests very slowly. With food in the stomach the fish feels full and does not eat.
When you have plenty of oxygen the food digests quickly and the fish is hungry more often and eats a lot more.
By increasing the dissolved oxygen you can grow a monster fish in a fishbowl.
Add a few air stones and see if they eat more.
I added an air stone to my tank a while back and the fish seem to be always hungry now.
I was keeping the oxygen a little low to slow their growth, but now I am moving them to a tote in my shop, so I am not worried about them out growing my 75
Eating like a pig and not showing much growth for such a young oscar is one sign of an internal parasite. He eats like a pig anyway but sure I’ll throw in an air stone and see if it helps he does also get aeration from the filter outlet but the airstone will keep him occupied as he usually attacks all the bubbles in the tank
