I would love to have substrate; but the overflow box in my tank is designed to have holes at the bottom which doesn’t allow me to add substrate, or substrate would be collected at the sump.

Also up top correct ? The holes on the bottom is likely just there in case the water level is low and it will still turnover water. U can plug that sukkker up and SUBSTRATE! Lol…..
