When cooked right, they’re delicious. The meat is quite slimey. Not the best kind, but its dinner! I caught little 2-3 pound Calico Bass, but they need to be a certain length to keep, plus we probably have 20 pounds of calico Bass in our freezer. Bluegill is great.
If you like bluegill you should try walleye. It’s the steak of the freshwater fish world

Don’t have any pictures of it but made a 2 pound stack of pan fried fish. Bluegill, saugeye, striper, white bass, largemouth bass and a couple catfish. My papaw ate a surprising amount and kept complementing my fillet skills ( I’m self taught) and how good I am at cooking it. He also gave me 10$ for lures tomorrow at Lake Erie, said to buy some rooster tails. Then the rest that me and him couldn’t eat I took to a family friend who had gotten a new off-road trail truck today and let me ride in it for a while. That thing is absolutely crazy, it goes from 0-30mph in an blink of an eye and can hit up to 70mph. Had an amazing day and cannot wait for tomorrow.
