Nice lil sen ? time to convert your 55 into an upper jaw comm!
Haha maybe. The senegal bichir I just got, I’m going through trial and error. I’m hoping that it would be able to grow out in the 55g. It may not work depending on my other bichirs once I add it into the larger aquarium. Hoping to grow it at least 6-7 inches, quite uncertain for now.
it is merely my “test subject” to see whether I can grow out bichirs or have to buy large ones, given it only costs $2.

Ah what I meant was how big I can grow out the Senegal before I put it in the large tank. Cause once it starts to attack the community fish I would put it in the large tank. So I said it’s a “test subject” as by the time I put it in the large tank I’m not sure if it would be large enough….I don’t want my community fish to die either.

I estimated wrongly, the Senegal is about 9cm. From the looks of it all my fish are too big to be eaten.

For clarification purposes:

sorry to anyone who was affected by the pic in POTM, I thought it would be an interesting pic to post as I have not seen a picture before on POTM as the one I posted. I tried putting the bichir in the main aquarium to see if it would survive there. Apparently not. I took a quick shot before taking it out. It’s now living and eating a lot in the 55g, for anyone who thought it didn’t survive. Thanks for understanding.

on a side note, I got a new 6 inch albino Senegal. I’m hoping it would survive in the main tank, but only night will tell where the bichirs are most active. Arowana has been annyoing and nipping at it slightly, but seems fine at the moment.Hoping everything goes well. Really like the white look against The dark background.

Cheers! ?

Nice, thats how addiction starts. I noticed you dont have substrate, i highly siggest it cause you might see some redness on your bichirs bottom cause of the hard surface from the tank.
You were right. My ornate bichir has some redness on its belly, alothugh it’s behaving and eating fine. I wonder what causes it.

I have a small Lap, an ornate, and two albino Sens. One had cloudy eye upon shipping. It went away within a week with good care. Eating and growing like champs.
