huh... Thought this place was for people with Monster Fish... Guess its just a place about them rather than place FOR people that keep them.I can't either. I don't have 'monster' fish, but I do have 4 fish tanks and no time on my hands
90 gallon?? Who told you that? Maybe understandable if it’s a wild caught bichir, where lake turkana senegals grow up to 15”, but yours which is clearly CB won’t possibly grow that large. 40 gallon should be okay, but 55g is always better for senegals or delhezisso Im good ? Damn Reddit said I needed a 90 Gallon Minimum... Glad to know that I can stay in this forum and call myself a "monster fish keeper" XD. Then again, I dont know it would be fitting.
I have a delhezi, very similar in growth and size compared to a Senegal. Kept in first a 55g before transferring to a 230g aquarium, and still after 2 years it’s only reached a max size of 8”.huh... I know 55 Gallon is better, its just that Im not sure If I will be able to get it or not being a student and all. When I can, I will but its good to know that they will be fine in the 40 Gal for now. I will look into African Butterflies...More and more people reccomend them and I myself like the fish ! I will just wait for my Senegals to grow for a few months so they dont end up as food... I’ve read the thread, a butterfly fish and 2 albino senegals… really not much action there tbh. Once ur albino senegals grow larger they will become less active. Suggestion would be Congo tetras or red serpae tetras, they may do well in a planted aquarium. No guarantee the senegals may nip their fins or even eat them when larger. For now it should be okay.
For food, try feeding crushed up carnivore pellets or cut up seafood such as MP or tilapia. Estimate the cut up meat such that it is able to fit in the senegals mouth. When my senegal was small, I used a pair of tweezers and put the prawn directly in front of the bichirs face. Since they also go by smell they would sense it easily.
