Sometimes p.polli and p. palmas can get mislabeled. Originally, pollis were considered a palmas subspecies, but that information has since been amended.Thank you!
really? I’m not knowledgeable about upper jaw bichirs as much. The guy told me it was a palmas. He was quite unknowledgeable though. Thanks for confirmation
The easiest way to tell the difference:
Polli: darker solid coloration with polka dots, 5-7 finlets(not as many on their spines), rounder pec fins. I think your polli is CB based on the body and head shape. Mine is too and she is super interactive!
palmas: (talking about traditional palmas, not goldust bichir/buettikoferi, which is also a palmas)
diagonal bars, 7-10 finlets. Kinda looks like a delhezi. Might also have red coloration on the cheeks.

IDing them can be hard. Once you start seeing more pictures of them it does get better! Of course, correct labelling helps too. That's awesome you feel confident about LJ bichirs. I still struggle with all the lower jaws. Don't even ask me about catch locations lol.
