At -90 degrees Fahrenheit, your breath will freeze midair and fall to the ground.

Can we get a volunteer to verify this?

The Voyager 1 space probe, launched on 5th Sept 1977, had a mission to explore the outer solar system, taking photos of the various planets along the way.

It is now well out of the solar system at a distance of about 23 billion kilometers from earth. It continues to travel through the vast expanse of space at about 61'000 kilometers per hour.

If it keeps travelling at that speed, then in about 17'700 years it would reach a distance of ONE light year from earth! (a light year is roughly 9.46 trillion kilometers).

Take into consideration the next nearest star to us, after our sun, is Proxima Centauri, which is about 4.24 light years from earth. As you can see the distances are mindboggling, and that's just to our nearest star.

Our nearest galaxy, Andromeda, is 2.5 million light years away!!! It is the most distant thing visible from earth with the naked eye, yes, you can actually see Andromeda from earth!

I think the title should be changed to ‘why do you know that facts’!
Being quite old is an advantage. You pick all sorts of useless information up over the years. And also being in a pub quiz team for about 20 years is a better education than being at school!!

That's my excuse for knowing tons of rubbish, lol.

Many people, when asked (myself included many years ago, lol) would say the saltiest body of water on the planet is the Dead Sea. Wrong!

For reference, the worlds oceans, typically, are about 3.5%. The dead sea is around 33%, but the saltiest body of water on the planet is the San Juan Pond in Antarctica. It has a salt level of over 40%!!!

The Masked Shadow The Masked Shadow , you shouldn't have started this thread. I'll single handedly put the whole forum to sleep, lol.
