Any update on what those were?

I have 3 ropefish and ones belly is popping out slightly and darker.
It's very possible for a captive bred Ropefish to spawn in a home aquarium and without hormone injection imo. The problem is that you have to have the right environment for them to spawn. Also have to know what to look for like behavior.
Ropefish most likely spawn like any other Polypterus scattering tiny eggs on plants or the substrate.

Do you know what the eggs look like or what color they are? I have been seeing little white dots everywhere in my aquarium on things but I don’t know what they are … I’m sure they aren’t rope fish eggs but would like to know what ropefish eggs look like so I could keep any eye out

please provide better pictures. this is impossible to identify without pictures.

He probably just ate something big.
I thought of that possibility but the rope fish hadn’t aten in 3 days and was hungry and when they are hungry they swim right up to me and stare at me or swim around after I turn on the lights. They are aren’t shy anymore which is why I could observe the lil dark bulge in their belly. And the others’ bellies looked normal coloration and smooth. I wish more information was known.

The eggs look very similar to related Polypterus eggs.
Yes, their eggs and embroy development are almost undistinguishable with polypterus but they have bit different breeding habit specially they prefer shallower water with lots of plants, if the moisture is enough, they even spawn on the plant outside water.
