Reminds me of something said back during the "troubles" couple of years ago. That I ought to be concerned more about the forum and what i can offer to it. That the forum itself is more important than the members. I look at it a bit differently. The forum needs to exist for the members, not the other way around.
And it does? The forum is a fantastic repository for fish information, if you want covid information go trawl google scholar and medical sci-comm sites. At base the issue/discussions of your mentioned topic caused a lot of conflict and the forum is better off without it. off topic is nice to discuss movies, fishing, random stuff as often happens here peacefully. Frankly I was tired of a bunch of adults behaving like children because they don't like what others are saying and can't have a civil arguement, so stick to movies, fishing, and other random stuff. Life is better for everyone that way :)

Hello; I understand the thinly veiled warning. First i heard the off-topic section is restricted to fishing, movies and random stuff. Again, I try to be civil and am pretty sure had i not been civil I would have been punished. I get i am not a favored of some mods and conduct myself accordingly. You, yourself explained to me as how the mods get to do what you wish when I inquired about when my friends who have been on probation (pink) for years now can be blue again. I had been under the impression a probation lasts for a year.
The approach taken concerning some now silent members has deleted a lot of good hobby knowledge at the same time. I no longer am as active in the pure fish stuff as i was before. That is 60 years of fish keeping experience greatly reduced. Some other very experienced members no long are active at all further reducing the body of knowledge. The lounge is an optional section no one has to use. It is voluntary. No one only interested in fish keeping has to look into the threads there.
Interesting how my question about censorship potential on Twitter has devolved into a discussion of continued censorship being championed for this site. I get i have no say so in the running of these sites. You were a mere member several years ago and likely can recall how enjoyable the site was. Yes, there were rude, vulgar and uncivilized members making uncivilized posts. The failure, as I see it, was in just closing threads instead of dealing with the offenders directly. I get the explanation you gave a long time ago that the Mods find the job easier by just closing threads rather that policing behavior. If that approach suits you mods then it so be it. The site is now what you guys made it. Such is part of my opinion about censorship as it relates to the lounge and i expressed it. I tried to be civil in this post, however that is your call.

Hello; Fishing -yes. Not too many good movies out lately. Dare I say too many are too "woke" currently. I have not seen it yet but understand TOP Gun Maverick is outstandingly popular in part because it is good basic entertainment and pro-military. I cannot say yet. Direct TV called and offered me some free movie channels for a time. I turned the offer down. Even free the latest movies are not worth watching. I do look forward to the new season of Yellowstone.

Absolutely terrific show. One of only two or three TV shows in the past decade or so that I actually made a point of following and watching religiously, as opposed to just half-glancing at the TV when it happens to be on. Right up there with Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, Vikings...and even Rick & Morty! :)

Right up there with Breaking Bad,
Breaking Bad is my favourite show of all time so I'll have to take you up on your recommendation! I just need to fathom a way of getting it now. I believe in the UK we can get it via SKY on a viewing platform called "Peacock".

I'm currently watching "Ash vs Evil Dead". Slapstick gory comedy horror. It's quite good really, in a stupid sort of way, lol.

I looked for it, but it's not available on the few streaming services to which I subscribe. I want to add a couple more soon and get rid of satellite altogether; maybe I will be able to locate it then. I don't watch much TV; maybe when the snow flies and the temperature drops I'll address that. Too many other things to do in late fall and early winter. :)
