Picked up a 4 pack from imperial tropicals at the aca convention last July, thinking about what would look good with them and work as tank mates as they grow out so far they have a L190 with them and I know that that probably ruins a pure biotope but Id still like to hear what you have to say duanes duanes

Tank size will always be the determinning factor.
If your tank is under 200 gallons, I probably wouldn't attempt any other cichlids as tank mates.
Maybe some geographically correct non-cichlid dithers.
Over 200, there might be some leeway.

It's a 125 to grow out.I did have a group of small juvenile nanolutea (also from the cichlid convention) I was hoping could live with them but they can stay in their 40b for now, so cichlids aside what would be good tank mates for my vieja?

non cochlid tankmates for me have been either large adult BA tetras , SDs or Triportheus angulatus.. I've also used large Poecilia velifera previously..

I’ve got a group of 7 in a 240g and keep a handful of Cryptoheros cutteri. I rarely pull fry from either species. I also have a large group of nanoluteus)one of the best strains I’ve seen)from N newworld which may replace the cutteri.

Are you planning a larger tank than the 125?
