Hi, so days ago, i noticed one of my oscar rubbing up against the other oscar and when he or she does it, he or she turns very light in color from full black, and the other oscar shakes his body side to side and slaps his tail. Is this color change and behavior due to pairing up and possibly mate activity? Right after they part ways the oscar turns dark again. Its really cool to see.

How long have you had the Oscar’s. It's possible you may have a pair with the description of behavior given. If the Oscar’s are young then I would say dominance.

That is a possibility. Are yours full grown? Mine are like 4/12 inches. So i feel like they’re to young to mate but it looks just like mating behavior idk. They dont nip nor seem aggressive
