Hey y'all. I'm sad to say it, but after some thought, I'm going to leave MFK. After yesterday's little bot shock, I am not comfortable remaining here. I think all can agree that the content the links promoted was disgusting, vile, and abhorrent, not to mention illegal.

I really appreciate all of the support and advice that the many experienced members have given to me over the past year. Y'all really helped me avoid some really stupid mistakes (ie. Green terror in a 55 gallon, silver arowana in a 55 gallon, entertaining the thought of having an Oscar in a 10 gallon, etc) and made the hobby enjoyable for me while it lasted. I will miss the members here although I've never met any of you in-person.

While I will not be here, I do intend to spend some time on various other groups such as AC and Reef2Reef.com, so perhaps I will see some of you in other groups.

I hope everyone continues to enjoy the hobby and I wish John and Esox the best of luck in their battle against the bots.

For those who don't know, Saturday a bot showed up spamming child porn, not just one post but multiple. Not as bad as the college spam bot, but the fact it got thru and was able to spam what it did...

Thanks Jex. That's terrible and hopefully has been cleared out, but quitting the site seems like a strong reaction. I guess maybe I'm less shocked because i see the whole internet as the wild west where you can't trust anyone very far and some sort of evil may be lurking in every shadow.

The whole weekend debacle had me pondering my future too S SilverArowanaBoi , but although I was angry I've been a member for too long to just leave like that.

It would have been nice to see a blanket response from admin detailing how the hell it happened and a plan for remedial action to prevent a recurrence. But as far as I know there hasn't been any response, not a single word!

But then again it still isn't clear who admin even are now chicx has gone so what are we to do?

In the meantime, I urge you to have a rethink, and at least stay for now, until it happens again, in which case I'll be joining you out of the door, along with everyone else probably.

I believe for most of us that lived before the internet was invented have pretty much the same outlook about the internet. But these young ones that have only lived in it's age, treat it as the Bible, there holy grail. And when it does bad things it's like telling a five year old there is no Santa. Without it they are useless and for them to actually see it do bad is as bad as Superman swooping in and taking all thier candy.
