A natural colored standard aquarium gravel in general, but even a darker substrate, such as black-colored gravel does suit Faders specifically really well. You don’t need a lot of gravel either. A relatively thin layer that’s easy enough to gravel-vac, will provide a lot of enrichment for him. A little goes a long way while not being a burden maintenance-wise + will create a home for more beneficial bacteria.
Oh is it I already hold some black gravels but I thought it's bad for flowerhorn as it would make them stress.So is that fine right to use black ones as substrates.Also any idea when he will be fading fully and any guesses what color he would peel into?
Yes, totally fine to use black substrate especially for a fader like this. He looks well into the process of fading so he could fade fully soon. My guess could be a solid white like a ghost which could be really cool over the black gravel. Ghost white body with the red eyes but can’t be sure.
So you are saying it would a solid white color when it peels and not orange or reddish on the body right ?
It’s possible yes that it could be solid white color. Orange and reddish on the body, could be. There’s some metrics of predictability for certain kinds of faders hobbyists can go by loosely, though it’s still very unpredictable. I say that’s what it could be because I’ve seen the same circumstances of fade that’s yours seems to be going through before. Where it looks like a super regular SRD Flowerhorn and then fades solid white in this sort of manner yours seems to be.
