Datnoid fish keep with GeoPhagus

Hi,
I have a baby datnoid around 5cm, also i recently added 2x new Geophagus to the tank.
At the moment they are staying fine with the datnoid.

When Datnoid get bigger, will Geophagus get attacked by Datnoid?

is anyone keeping Geophagus and Datnoid together?

I have seen many red parrot and cichilids staying together with datnoid.

My tank is 300 ltrs.

My experience no Datnoid was pretty mild behaviorally.

Not now around 7 years ago.

Some people have, but they would not ordinarily go together. Their habitats are different.

My tank is 300 ltrs.

Dats need a large body of water. 300 litres will not be enough when he gets big.

Thanks for your reply and it is very helpful.
Also i have another quick question.

I need to train datnoid to eat pellets. he is currently eats shrimps.
I feed HIkari gold cihclid pellets and seems he is not interested at all.
Do you have any recommendation for pallets?

I only live feed my dats, freshwater prawns and treated river fish.

I would not even think of pellets. Other members have had success, but I do recommend it. Your dat is a wild caught ambush hunter. It is not an easy fish to keep.

Update.
I have put two Redhead geophagus same size as the datnoid around 5 cm. They were fine together around 2 months.

Yesterday my baby datnoid got attacked badly by the Geophagus and had a big wound in his belly. Unfortunately datnoid died after 2 days.

So i don't recommend any Geophagus with Datnoid.

My tank size 400 liters.

IMO, if a dat gets attacked by a similar sized cichlid, something was wrong already. Probably, the dat was not healthy, malnourished, stressed, stunted.

Dats are not easy fish.

Datnoid was healthy and had a good growth of him. I think what happened was, i feed normal pallets for Geophagus first and then hand feed prawns and Carnivor pallets to Datnoid. otherwise Datnoid will miss the food as Geophagus are fast abd eat all food. i belive geophages started a fight for good food.
