I don't mean to be a pain but good lunch people are having trouble getting rid of theirs and their giving it away for free I've seen 4 people on here in this situation and where all at the point of just giving it away to make sure it lives I have 3 red bellys and as much as I love them they eat to much and get big, red bellys in stores don't even reach this much

Yea I know but it's worth the shot. I mean people are still buying them from lfs. He's chasing my other fish all around and starting to beat them! Idk what else to do but free isn't a option just yet. I love him too but man he's a pain!

People buy them from pet stores as impulse purchases because they look like piranhas and employees often don't tell them how big pacu get. Not many people have a tank big enough to house a full grown pacu, and those who do usually prefer more expensive fish. Its not going to be easy finding someone willing to care for your pacu for the next few decades, so if a member with a pond offers to adopt him you should forget the $20 and make arrangements to deliver him before they change their mind. I would only ask for a rehoming fee on craigslist to make sure someone doesn't slap him on the grill when they get home.

I was one of those people :( I didn't like him for the look but more
Because he was cheap and I didn't know how big he got. The lfs didn't even tell me. My tank is getting way to crowded

Don't worry I was one of those people too. Saw a 2" pacu with a goldfish sticking out of its mouth while walking through Walmart and the tag said adult size 10 inches... Now she's 21" and outgrown the 240g in my 2nd floor apartment so I'm getting ready to set up a pool in my garage. You're doing the right thing getting rid of your pacu before it gets to that point, just realize that pacu are the #1 most difficult freshwater fish to rehome so u might have to make some sacrifices to find him a good home. Such as giving him away for free, offering to drive a few hours away to deliver, and setting up a hospital tank for any fish getting bullied while u wait. Not saying you have to but that's probably what its gonna take.
