Wasn't looking to use any live plants. I do large enough water changes now to keep nitrates below 5-10ppm. The use of artificial plants was to add some color and scenery to the rocks and wood. But the mangrove roots look amazingTo me, live terrestrial plants that hang from above the surface would be the best option, for their ability to use nutrients, and overhang the shallow waters where they are found in nature.

They also inhabit brackish waters where mangrove trees are found, and could be an option planted in the aquarium, lit from above.
