180 Gallon Stocking Advice Please

After a divorce and moving across the country and buying a house, etc. I have found myself back in the hobby. I picked up two oscars that were raised together last week and have had them in a 75 gallon. Tomorrow, I am getting a 180 gallon acrylic delivered for them and possibly their future tank mates. I’ve never had a 180 specifically before. It will be filtered by two fx6’s and an fx4(also have a spare fx2 that could go on it).

This is where you guys come in. I don’t want to do dithers like silver dollars. I am interested in other South American Cichlids. Some possible species that I am interested in as tank mates and I can get large ones easily are severums, chocolate cichlids, and geophagus. In a 180 what species and how many could I keep with two oscars that is considered good practice and will be a healthy situation for all involved?

Attached is a pic of the oscars I picked up. IMG_4603.jpeg

IMHO- you will Enjoy the Oscar’s more if they’re the only ones in there for cichlids.

You didn’t ask but if it were my tank and those two beauties, I’d source a trio of ornate pims and maybe a call it a day.

I actually like that idea.

I’ll look in to the pims. Thank you!
