I have a empty 180 due to loss of fish I've had for 5 years. I'm looking for ideas of what to do next. I think I want big fish, as big as I can care for in the tank. I've toyed with the idea of 200 tetras but I didn't think that's for me (I have other tanks for small fish).

Clown loaches, maybe? They're interactive and around the 12-inch range, 180g is enough space for a good-sized school, and you can keep a community along with them.

They do have a downside in their slow growth rates, they're very much a long-term project unless you buy them big or find someone looking to rehome theirs.

I would think a medium to large cichlid. Perhaps a Geophagus school or something?

If it was mine, I would go either a single Festae or something from Amphilophus, probably another Saggitae.

I haven't had in amps for 7-8 years i have had black nasties and red terrors those type of fish are beautiful but IME not very interactive i just recently got a 10in Midas and i forgot how interactive they are he sometimes scares my wife with his glass banging and following her the length of the tank.
My vote would be go to TUIC and order 6-8 amp fry and grow out a nice pair or just the nicest wet pet from the group
