Pros place at the top for surface agitation.
Con will be clogged easily and frequent maintenance vs a sump.

You can have as many filters as you want in a tank, the more the better, unless the current knocks the fish around, which is nearly impossible with an oscar.
I put HOB filters along the entire back of some tanks, and clean the mechanical media in one of the filters every day.

I am a firm believer in redundancy when it comes to filtration. That being said I don't know if internals can keep up with a big oscar

Well a pro would be that it frees up space for external filters such as canister filters.
A con would be that it takes up swimming space but it wouldn't take up enough space that it would make it hard for the fish to swim.

If he's like me that appearance means nothing for 99% of your tanks. In my 75 I have 2 cascade 1,000 on the front of the tank that are keeping the filters cycled for 2 new tanks I'm waiting to set up.

HOB? Sorry to say I will never think of it because its really difficult to cover the lid completely because my os jumps a lot. And I don't want to go for external canister filter i don't have much space.

Another con would be appearance if you want to go for a natural looking set up. Its not impossible to hide them but it wouldnt be easy either.
Yeah that's what i am thinking...is there any option coz i don't have enough space for external canister filter.

Well if you're just storing the animal then appearance really doesnt matter. My hospital tanks aren't pretty but they are efficent. When I'm done quarentining tho i enjoy displaying it in a setup that is relaxing, pleasing to look at, and hopefully mimics a natural environment in which the animal would better thrive. I suppose a good question to ask the OP is what is your vision for this tank?
