i got a fish ive been trying to get for a week! after HUNDREDS of pesky bluegill, i got what i was wanting! i need name suggestions. also any suggestions on how to train him to eat pellets? he is in a 55 gallon tank until i can put him in my pond ) i got him out of a pond that had loads of sunfish, so he is super skinny and i have no clue if he is stunted or not. im bringing him to a better home ;-D

Let him get settled in and if the other fish are pellet trained then hopefully he will catch on. If not try some crickets to get him used to you feeding him and then rotate pellet and cricket. If that doesn’t work try small pieces of a cut up fish fillet. My bass like my homemade frozen food that I make.

I would suggest a floating pellet when you work on pellet training him. Between large and smallmouth I have, I found it was always easier to get them on floating pellets first then once they figured out pellets were food it doesn't matter. Give it some time with pellets and he will eventually figure it out. Don't be surprised if at first he hits them and then spits them out.
