The tank currently has:
1 malawi hawk
6 Frontosa
1 OB peacock(was given with the frontosa, think it is called a dragonblood OB whatever that means. He is not aggressive at least)
6 silver dollars
6 Grass cutter cats(like a big glass catfish sort of? stopped growing around 6 inches)
A few bottom dwelling catfish I am probably going to rehome like some raphaels.

The must haves:
Star Sapphire cichlid
Malawi Sand Diver

Then some combination of these, not sure how many from this list I should add:

Synodontis multipunctata although a different Syno can be considered if those are a bad fit, would be open to a loach of some kind I suppose
Starry night cichlid
Chilotilapia rhoadesii
Exochochromis anagenys
Lichnochromis acuticeps
Buccochromis lepturus(perhaps too large?)
Protomelas sp. ''Spilonotus Tanzania'' Liuli
Red empress
Malawi Trout
Fire Uganda hap

Is there anything on this list that is a disaster? Not a lot of great info some of them, but it seems they are all around the same aggression levels. Maybe something with a different shape or color than my current list I should consider?

What are the dimensions of your tank? I would get rid of the frontosa if your must haves include the Malawi.

The silver dollars (Metynnis hypsauchen) like a pH of 7.0 or below so not a fit with the Lake Malawi cichlids.

Grass cutter catfish (Schilbe intermedius) is a 24" fish. It is a riverine fish, I could not find much information on keeping them but they may also prefer a lower pH than the Lake Malawi cichlids.

The Synodontis multipunctatus works well with Lake Malawi cichlids.

Starry Night is not from Lake Malawi.

If you are doing all-male then you want one of each and none that look anything alike. The Fire Uganda Hap is from Lake Victoria?

The red empress is also a Protomelas so I would choose one protomelas.

Sadly my tank is a tall so it's 6 feet long.

Are any of the species I mentioned especially aggressive? For example I have heard 80% horror stories about Venustus so I am going to avoid those. Are any on my list like that? Some of them there is almost no data on other than from sites trying to sell them.

Are you doing one of each? Then make sure they are all male and I like a maximum of 18 individuals in a 72" tank...and nothing that matures larger than six inches.

If doing large fish then stock less than 18.

Venustus are more aggressive than some but no horror story. They would do well in a 72" tank.

Are you getting rid of the cats and silver dollars and frontosa? For example, if you are starting with only the hawk (Aristochromis christyi), the sand diver (Fossorochromis rostratus) and the star sapphire (Placidochromis phenochilus Tanzania).

You can try looking them up on Cichlid-forum:
