Well i finished work this morning at 9.15am got some jobs done round the house, dropped the kids off at my mum's at 2.30 grabbed my fishing kit and headed for Rodley canal.
got down to the canal nice and bright but also very windy it was blowing my floats all over, i set up 2 rods :
First rod was my live bait rod i had ton's of little skimmers, roach and perch the best bait i found to catch them was red maggot followed by about 6 to 10 maggots thrown around the float to get them compeating for the hook bait.
Second rod was my pike rod which was the main reason i went down there to catch pike, any way hooked on a live skimmer bream about 4/5" long and while fishing for more live baits i notice my pike float verticle i jumped up and striked from the time it took me to get out of my seat and to get to the rod was plenty of time for the pike to take the bait with out it deep hooking.
Here's the location where i caught the fish !
i then moved around looking for more pike but after i caught the pike the weather calmed down the wind had stopped and the rain had dried up i went searching staying close to the barges as it's a good location for pike because a lot of silver fish are located around them due to barge people leaving there waste foods in the water and plus theres plenty of cover for the pike to take up there ambush possitions.
and here's the money shot trying to control the pike on land and take a picture is really difficult when you only have yourself to do all three things ... lol
