i finally made my new fitler out of the following items and it was a low total cost But i did have some of the things i already needed

5 gallon bucket with lid

good sized bowl t fit in bottom of bbucket but not take up all the room

A APPLE JUICE JUG

about 12 sponges

a small water pump and some hoses

ok i filled the apple juice jug with the sponges

i then drilled a hole in the lid of the jug drilled a hole in the lid of the bucket

then take the small but large bowl place in the bottom of the bucket

drill a second hle in the lid of the bucket

place you pump in the bucket next to the large but small bowl

then run your pump hose through the lid of bucket then attach to the pump

run the second hose through the first hole in the bucket then into the lid of the jug place jug into small but large bowl

and boom you done

mine works great i did buy a little bit to small fo a pump though

and the intake of the water from the tank to jug is gravity fed

this works great for me because it cleans all my turtles crap

PS YOU MAY NEED TO CUT/DRILL A SLOT ON THE LID OF THE BUCKET TO MAKE AND AIR TIGHT SEAL

thanks it has worked well unfortuanatly the pump is still to small be cause it wasnt water tight and itr overflowed onto my floor which really realy sucks other than tha itr works great i had a 145GPH pump then upgraded to a 190 GPH pump and the 145 pump is being used to stirr all the crap up and it makes a nice current and my turtles like to swim up to it pull in the legs then go for a ride LOL
