View attachment 703286I have a 5 Spot Jewel Cichlid that i need more info on. I havent been able to find much info I know it is a rare fish to see in my area and I was wondering how much do they go for at 5 in and what size they get. I know they can be nasty but i dont know anything else about them all the Info I can get would be Great

looks odd to me, as most 5-stars are greenish in color and have some red to them also. shape and dots match though.

not saying it isn't a 5-star, but with the bland coloration you should expect to pay way less. I think they are most valuable in pairs.

where do you get your info from Pics i have seen one them which is like 2 or 3 they are the same as mine. Mine has a red Belly now and blue green and red in the fins

look up Hemichromis Elongatus

There are several varieties of Hemichromis that are all similar. Elongatus. Fasciatus and Frempongi. Where did you find this fish and did they have others? Jack

i Have a 5 spot. They are great little fish similar to firemouthes. they form a red ring around there gills for flaring, have red/orange lateral lines and a red and powder blue trim on their dorsal and tail fins that when cared for well. 6" is a good size for them to grow. they are quite peaceful but won't be pushed around, they can compete for food and are strong and hardy. here in the southwest of england i got mine for £6.50. its in with my new world cichlids (severums, acaras etc...) and has thrived. a very pleaseing buy. I also recommend getting a Moanda jewel cichlid however these are rarer and can go for up to £10 but overall are very rewarding
