Hello, I have a 6 gallon Fluval Edge. It has been running for 2 years with a fire shrimp and live rock. Recently, the tank crashed, so I am having to start over. The tank reeks right now despite a 100% water change, new sponge media, carbon and good scrubbing. I kept the sand bed, the rocks, and the ceramic media. I'm guessing the smell is from disturbing the sand bed. or my tank re-cycling.

Does anyone have any experience with keeping corals(SPS) in a small tank? 6 gallons or under please.
Anyone have any advice regarding salt water tank crashes and the hydrogen sulfide smell?

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

It’s from the beneficial bacteria dying, the tank is trying to cycle back up again. I’m not a fan of saltwater nanos and pico tanks. The parameters fluctuate too often especially for sps corals. Good luck regardless not saying you can’t be successful but it’s a lot more work in monitoring everything. I would not keep the sand from the tank. Just buy another 10lb bag of live sand to make cycling the tank that much quicker
