any heat issues with the tank being in the garage? its been hot lately.
Yeah, the tanks temp is usually in the upper 80's.
I dont know if you can tell from the pics but the stand will really be more like a small room.
My plan is to insulate the stand and put a fan in there that claims it can lower the temp in a normal sized room by 11 degrees but if that does not work its going to have to wait untill my central ac goes out (its getting old). when that happens I am going to install a vent in the ceiling that will supply cool air in the summer and heat in the winter.

Last night I put a lmb and 3 perch in the tank and when I woke up this morning there was water on the floor.
I did not have time to deal with it so all I could do was turn all of the pumps off.
Luckily the fish were ok when I got off of work and was able to find a crack in one of the pumps.
So for the time being the tank will only be running on 2 mag18's untill I have time to rebuild the filter but with one of the filters failing in such a short time I will be replacing all of them.
Im not shure what I will be replacing them with yet but I will be looking into a cattle trough.

I cant believe this, only 4 weeks with the tank running I have had 2 rubbermaid containers crack within 24hrs of each other.
They were the same containers that I have seen other people use without problems (including badoleross).
On my way home from work today I stopped at a feed store and bought a 75gal cattle trough that looked like the walls were pretty thick that I will be turning into a filter this weekend If I have time with all of the honey do's.

Ok, after 4 months of not working on tank I finally feel like I have time to work on tank again.
It will still be slow going because of football season but it will be worked on.

I finished modifying the filters using a 100 gallon horse trough instead of the rubbermaid containers that were cracking on me and rebuilt my light fixture.
the problem I am having now is with the time change it is dark when I leave for work and come home from work so I have no time to paint the light fixture and it is suposed to rain this weekend and i am at a standstill untill it is done.

I will post updated pics when light fixture is complete.

I started applying the 1/4'' plywood facing.

I will redo the stand on the 100gal tank too.

In this pic you can see the 100gal horse trough on top the tank that will serve as my new OHF.

I am going to use the "poor man cabinet" route by using the wood that was cut out for the cabinet doors as the cabinet doors if that makes any sense.
