Who builds acrylic tanks anymore?

Google and ebay give some options, but not sure how reliable

Where do people buy acrylic tanks anymore? Bonus points for being near michigan

How expensive is the shipping on these things anyway?

Shipping charges will be dependent on how large the tank is and far it is being shipped. A few years ago, FTD gave me discounted shipping from Florida to California for only $1690. It was a substantial tank. I'm sure shipping is probably more now.

Fishtanksdirect just built my 8x4x2’, and it shipped to Indianapolis free. Had a very positive experience with FTD.
