Hi all, I have recently purchased a 75 gallon tank with a stand, canister filter and everything. The filter is a Polar Aurora rated at 370GPH. I currently have an African Featherfin catfish in a 29 that I want to transfer over to the new tank after cycling, and I was wondering if I would be able to keep it with 2 medium size oscars which I am looking at in the 75. I know it is possible but I would just like to know what type of schedule you guys would follow with that, examples would be feeding, water changes, general maintenence, ect… Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated!

Tbh 2 Oscars are not suited to a 75g, so adding another fish to the mix won't be any better. Now if this is a growout then ok. Will it work.....maybe. Schedule.....whatever the fish require, feed them at least every other day, test water every couple days and change water as needed, clean the glass when it's dirty, clean the filter when it's dirty with 2 Oscars that's going to be quite often.

featherfins get huge if you keep them long enough.... almost like a bottom feeding oscar... Lots of water changes in high volume are in store for you just keeping 1 adult oscar and 1 featherfin for the next 2-3 years. It's not a once a week water change either.

From my experience with featherfins, I don't think I'd keep one in anything less than a 1.83 to 2.44m by 76cm footprint tank.
As Rocksor said, they do get very large. Not to mention they can also be aggressive or semi-aggressive to anything else without sufficient space.

I have two large featherfins with a large oscar and crew. They are very peaceful with other cichlids but ugly with each other. For the most part they are ignored or get shoved around. The oscar in particular enjoys popping them in the head, right between the eyes. Tank size takes the edge off their squabbling. One syno will be going in another tank by this summer. Sometimes they get scraped up and tatty from the other cichlids...they're tough as nails. My largest syno got peeled on one side like a grape but healed with clean water.

2 adult oscars in a 75 won't reach their full potential in size, IMO. Even assuming all the other stuff mentioned will work. Plus if they aren't compatible its like keeping two pit bulls in a small bedroom.

having hides would be ideal for the cats but would get cramped quickly as everyone grows.
