Which type is preferred to fluidize K1?
Disc, sphere, cylinder, bar, curtain?
I know some produce finer bubbles than others and wondering which type is ideal?

What i have learned, it is the sump shape that is more inportant than the bubblers.

I am currently using a 75 gallon aquarium. I decided to change that out to a barrel. Getting the aquarium to bubble nicely was very difficult to say the least.

I bought some bubblers From jemco. They are the long cylinder style ones. I have four of them in there.

I’ve also noticed that using a rectangular shaped sump also means you must compensate a little more or find a more precisely delivered air method. I was running a 100lpm pump w/ 2x 8” discs off of Amazon. It was a little more than needed, as I was using 80 liters of media, but anything else I tried wouldn’t get them turning correctly. It might have just been me though!

Sorry. Jehmco. These are the ones i have (i am using 4):

Those look like some really solid pieces.. I would love to get my hands on some of those but unfortunately the sales rep from Jehmco didn't reply my email when I told him I need them shipped to my country.. So I have to scout elsewhere for good quality air stones..

Wow.. 100 lpm for 2 air discs seem like an overkill.. Do you just use the air pump for both the air discs or do you have it connected to other filters/tanks?
I'm in the process of making another V-shape bottom for my rectangular shaped sump using tank dividers.. Just need to size them up and cut precisely according to measurements.. I did one but apparently the V was too tall and used up too much bottom space..

Yep, the entire air pump was used for the discs, now granted these were 8" discs that were intended for use with a pond.
If I recall correctly though, the recommendation is 1 lpm of air for every liter of media. So, I wasn't far off. Now I could have EASILY split off the air to additional uses, but at the time I had no reason to.
I literally had heavy boiling water, but I was overcompensating for the water flow issues inside the sump. I had around 2200GPH of flow going through the sump, that much flow was pushing the K1 to the exit side of the chamber and not allowing it to tumble. So, my thought process was providing more air for the media to tumble around where the water wouldn't push it so easily. It worked great though. However, if I were to do another one, I'd plan better and lay out exactly what I was going to do. When I did it last time it was a last minute decision and I just ordered a bunch of stuff with the intent of sending it back if I ended up not using it.
