Hi all,

So the baby albino leopard oscar has landed and I'm completely confused. Can anyone see a marking on this fish? Starting to wonder if I've been sent the wrong fish here, it has 3 or 4 very faint pure white dots on the side towards the lower end - normal? Not that's its not pretty but I could do without wanting another one and it's not really what I was shooting for. Should I expect markings to appear from no where with age? Seems odd for a leopard.

Well I would have thought the aberant leopard pattern would have still emerged in a red colouration? The image of the animal for sale certainly looks this way lol

Oscars do change in appearance considerably as they age. I wouldn’t be surprised if it picks up more patterning as it gets older.

Ah I hope so, it's making me want another but I stopped at 2. Ill try and be patient, any idea on the little white blobs or is that normal?

It’s hard to make out. Does it look like something protruding out? Just seems like coloration to me.

No it's flush with the scales just odd,, I'm keeping an eye on it to see if anything changes at the moment. The fish is active and responsive - and a messy piglet so behaviour wide seems normal.

There are varying degrees of albanism.
The purest form is white, with pink eyes and no melanin.
If you ordered a pure albino, it sounds like you got what you ordered..
If you wanted color, maybe you should have ordered a cheaper less albanistic version.

Perhaps, personally I have taken the view it's not quite on par however maybe that coloration will pull through as it grows. There's little point in selling a leopard albino with a representative image as previously posted and finding a white fish with no markings. Ironically a pure white would have set me back 15 times the cost. It's healthy, eats like a pig, and was extremely well packaged, however the leopard variants I cant seem to find much in the way of information on growth and pattern variability so hope that the lush reds will show in the end. All in all, it's always better to view the fish your purchasing be that in person or video etc - ill take a lesson in this and a learning curve.
