Nice looking fish! Reminds me alot of a piepald Sagittae. Bet he has some attitude! Those eyes just say....I dare you to stick your hand in the tank!

Thanks!... I could definitely see how you would say how it reminds you of Sagittae as I get that impression of him also.... I got him from Ken Davis which I know he has pure and valid species of different types of Amphilophus..... although I have only ever seen a limited few he does seem different from other Xiloansis I have seen ( that were full sized)which at least to my eyes were very indistinguishable from Citrinellus,this guy at his current size is more streamlined with more of a Predator build .... He still young so I am curious and looking g forward to see his development over the next few years.....and as you guessed he is very territorial and aggressive.🙂

Our dialog has got me thinking where I've seen the species before elsewhere.... Maybe you have seen it before but nevertheless Check out this video of These wild midas species( particularly Xiloansis)of lake Xiloa on the youtube channel of cichlid expert Willem Heijns...There is a Xiloansis at the about 3min mark that mine looks like.....he also has some interesting thought regarding the species on his Facebook page check out this screen shot ....
