I love Amur Catfish and have been told and read they are sometimes kept as pets in Japan and in America. I have found information about Diet of Captive bred ones, and other stuff, but what i haven't found is a recommended size tank.

According to Wikipedia [I know, not the most credible source in the world, lol] they can grow up to 130cm, so was thinking maybe 1500-2000 Gallons?

Not sure if it'd be too big for the Catfish or too small.

Welcome to MFK! The dimensions of the enclosure matter but I'd roughly agree with the volume. More is always better for a large and swimming-prone fish like that.

I've not much experience with them. Wes Wong sent me his 5 specimen about 3 months ago and that's my first. They are fun cats. They swim a lot and school albeit they enforce a pecking order. Seem a bit on the skittish side, perhaps because I gave them no cover in their 240 gal.

They eat well, not picky, pellets and fish pieces. Some clearly eat better and more than others. They came at ~5" and put on ~2"-3" in the 3 months plus good girth.
