Hello guys and gals,

I've got a fully grown angelfish that I've had for, oh 3 or so years. He's about 5 inches in length. Anyways he stopped swallowing his food for about 3 weeks. Like he'd suck in the food particle and then chew it for a few seconds before spitting it out. My other angelfish are fine, they are still voracious eaters and other then the fact he's on the bottom end of the pecking order (He's not the bottom ranker). No other tanks mates are stressing him out, (rummies, black phantoms, bristle nose plec, and a pair of blue rams).
Water parameters are in good condition, nothing out of place.
I did see some whitish stringy poop, but their were some brown bits so I assume some of what he chews on ends up in his stomach. I feed omega one flakes, vibra-bites, and bloodworms

I'm thinking he has some internal parasites and the stress of being picked on is getting to him. I'm looking at setting up a QT with a seeded sponge filter to either treat with a parasite medication or to just isolate him

What do you guys think?

Yes isolate asap and observe. Others will chime in on what meds if needed to add.

Could be IP. Would add some Epsom salt to the tank at 1 tbsp per 5g. Get some hex shield, metronidazole and make a mixture with Epsom salt solution and seachem focus. Feed that to the fish. Can add some garlic or bloodworm juice to get the appetite going. Keep ur temps at 78-80.

Yeah I've just finished moving him to a QT tank with a dosage of epsom salt in it. For metro can I use seachem metroplex?

So the angelfish passes whatever was in his stomach when I moved him to the QT, no white stringy poop. I think the epsom salt killed his appetite though, since whenever I tried to feed epsom salt soaked food he’d instantly spit it out with even chewing. I’m running 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons and when I tried to feed him he went to investigate the food and then have a sort of short cough and then swim away. I know the cough is some sort of mouth spasm.

Have you added anything to this tank in recent weeks/months that could have allowed a parasite to enter with it?
