Hi Guys,
As we are all aware, the current pandemic is effecting us all. As Dubai is 90% foreigners. A few people had to go home in a hurry, or seriously downsize their lives. Unfortunately this leaves a lot of animals in a poor situation, including fish. Quite a number have been dropped off at the LFS's, but there are a few LFS's that have had to close their doors too.
This brings me to the below Arowana I picked up about two hours ago. He looks good, ate within minutes of me adding him into my tank. However he has gill curl. This is the first fish I have kept with this condition, and from the internet it sounds like it can take months to get better with clean water and healthy diet if I caught it early.
I wanted to find out from the experts how bad does this case of gill curl look compared to a "standard" gill curl case? Will this be easy to heal and treat myself? Is this too bad and too far gone? Is it just the soft plate? the hard plate?(to me it doesn't really look like the hard plate). Just some general thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.
The store he was at is now closed, for the last two months he has been kept in a 45cm long , 30cm wide tank. I always ask about history and previous owners, apparently he is about two years old, and the other owner had him in a 100cm tank.
