I was looking around on kingsnake and I saw an add for Malaysian Mountain Horned Lizards and was pretty intrigued. So I hopped over to flickr and the search was on. Now I'm kind of on a forest dragon trip (and some of these guys look like there creation was heavily influenced by a potent trip as well). I have 3 turtles, and 11 geckos and I haven't run out of room yet so I'm looking for a little variety in my life. I really want a caiman Lizard but I need to hold off on that until I have the time to go all in on a real big enclose in my basement which won't be for a long time soooooo. (now the actual question)

Does anyone here keep

Acanthosaura
Calotes
Draco
Hypsilurus
Gonocephalus

the really colorful species that belong to these family's are out of this world. I'm not even sure if a lot of these are available (I know some are though) I also want to know weather or not, even if there available are they real hard to keep alive in captivity I seem to remember that dracos are supposed to be? I'm good with reptiles when I said that I have 11 geckos I didn't mean leos and cresteds. I do have one crested but the rest are uroplatus, a cat gecko, a Cyrtodactylus irianjayaensis, a knob tail ...ect. I should be capable of meeting it's needs even if there a little advanced just as long as there not impossible? any imput would be very aprechiated thanks

Acanthosaura sp., Draco sp., and Calotes sp. are all commonly imported. I've not worked with any of those species but they tend to come in looking pretty rough. I keep Gonocephalus doriae and I've seen a couple other Gonocephalus species (particularly G. belli and G. grandis) available over the last couple years. Hypsilurus are much less common but there are a few Hypsilurus nigrigularis for sale at the moment on faunaclassifieds.

Thanks,
I'm gonna do some digging and see what I can come up with. I remember two months ago at a show I went to, seeing some cool lizards at a few vendors that were heavy with miscellaneous imports. The shows comming up again in two weeks so maybe I'll pick something up if it looks hydrated and isn't showing any parasite bulges/ corns (not sure what to call them but I know what they look like) and I can figure out how to provide adequate care before hand. the Gonocephalus doriae are pretty cool are they fussy eaters? like do they have obscure diets or will they eat the usual stuff I can get a decent pet store, and if you if you have any input on the others mentioned above for the same question. thanks for the response I had my doubts that I would get any feedback on this one, not that I thought they were all really rare just that figured not many people were working with them.
have a good one

Mine have never been fussy eaters but it may be because I keep them in a fairly large, well planted enclosure (4'x4'x2') with an automatic misting system and a reasonable amount of privacy. They eat crickets, hornworms, etc., without a problem.

Most of thouse are relatively easy to deal with, given the correct already stated contidions. As for Draco spp oh yea thouse are really tricky to keep and breed...but I know that at least 2 persons already acomplished it;) If Im not mistaken, one in Florida and the other in Europe.
