Hi all....
I was wondering if any of you have used those products. I've used shrak specific food in public aquariums, and i would like to use it at home. I feed now Massivore, spirulina pellets, prawns and squid.

Check it and tell me what do you think:

Mazuri Shark/Ray Gel - 5C8X
Mazuri Shark/Ray Meal - 5D2Q
Mazuri Vita-Zu Shark/Ray - 5MD8/5M24

I think this is something interesting.

Best regards
Ernesto Roa.

I use a lot of Mazuri gel an Ocean Nutrition shark and ray foods. Ocean Nutrition cubes I feed to my cat shark and bamboo shark pups. Sometimes ray pups will take them as well.

The Mazuri gel works well for rays. I use in addition to the normal fish, shrimp etc....

Does anyone know if the Gel is avail in the UK?

I notice that you feed Spirulina...does this mean that Rays will eat an Algae / green element in the wild?

everything you are referring to are saltwater? correct?

I use it with my FW rays as well. It's a great way to get them a well rounded diet. Elasmobranch diets are similar from fresh to salt when it comes to rays.

Mazuri 5C8X is the staple food here. I customize the batches a little to cater to some of the picky rays. Be cautious when purchasing the Mazuri diet. One style, 5C8X is preferred for healthy rays/sharks. The other style, 5D2Q is for obese specimens.

The vitamin supplements have a short shelf life.

Respectfully,
FireMedic.

Thanks Zoodiver and Firemedic !!!!....
I already use ON shark formula and they're starting to get it with no probs. I was told by an elasmobranch Vet what Zoodiver said, the diets are almost the same when it comes to rays, except for the insect larvae ingestion.
Toby, rays DO eat green elements in the wild just like discus do. All rays i have kept accepted and liked the spirulina pellets. Mazuri products are not available in Europe, we have to find someone who buy it in the USA and then send it to us by ordinary mail.
Firemedic when you say that 5C8X is staple diet, by staple do you mean main diet?.

What about a diet like this:
Main/basic/principal/most important: Mazuri 5C8X
Complements: Hikari Massivore, Spirulina/algae pellets, live insect larvar (like zoophoba, tenebrio, earthworms, or even crickets), whole shrimps (w/head and shell).

That sounds like a good mix to me.

I use the Mazuri gel diet. Took some time to get the rays on it, but its easy to make and customize. According the manufacturer, you can mix it up in advance and freeze the leftovers. I really like it.
