I've been a long time Tenecor owner with no problems, but does anyone own a Tru-vu acrylic aquarium? What is your opinion? How long have you had it? How does it compare with other acrylic's? Thanks in advance for your help

Both my acrylic tanks were/are TruVu's. The first was a 100G. It definitely bowed, but the acrylic was probably just too thin (I believe 3/8"). I was the second owner of the tank (not sure how old it was, but when I inherited it, it was in really good shape = like new). The build quality was very good. Seams were very clean. The same goes for my current tank, 6x3x2 (250G). There is some crazing at the seams, but if I had to guess, I'd say the tank is 10+ years old so some crazing is to be expected. I'm the third owner. It's .5" acrylic.

TruVu is a solid company as far as I'm concerned. All Tenecor's I've seen are also very nice. There's a shop I go to that has acrylic tanks made by "S & S". These tanks are horrible. The seams are really sloppy. I don't think you can go wrong with Tenecor or TruVu. I've seen some SeaClear tanks and they seem OK too. I would stay away from the cheaper manufacturers (ex- S & S). Paying a little extra for a well made tank is well worth it (IMO).

I have had a few Tru Vu tanks, they have all been good tanks. There is a local fish store that sells them for $1 over cost to bring in new business.

I have both and no problems either way. I have some from Glasscages.com too and no problems there. Love the weight of an acrylic tank and can live with the scratch issues.

I have had a 55 tru-vu for at least 16 years - well, actually my mom got it, but it is still in great shape after 16+ years of use :) There are some scratches, and it bows more than my 125 tenecor, but other than that, it is a great tank :)

BTW, i am only 15, and i know my mom got the tank at least a year before i was born, so . . .

I have a truvu 135 and so far its great. THe quality is good and the seams look nice. The only thing is that it bows a bit, but not enough to keep me from sleeping

Every tank I own is a TruVu (125, 75, 55, 40 and a 15) I have owned most of them close to 20yrs. The top of my 125 does bow a little. I would never own a glass tank and as to acryic scratching, while cleaning and doing water changes, I have bumped and rubbed the inside of the tank with slate and rocks without scratching it.

The seams are perfect on every tank, no hazing or cloudiness after all these yrs.

The only negative I can think of is that if you haven't priced them lately, you are in for sticker shock!
