Arapaima size pic

Hello all, I just came across this illustration comparing the authenticated maximum size (or a bit under) of Arapaima gigas compared to the often cited max length of 4.5 meters. Wish I read Japanese so I could read the article.

4.5 meters looks rather larger than even the largest pics I've seen. That animal would weigh 1500 kilos easy...

You need to remember that an average Japanese Girl is around 5'-5'3" tall. And arapiamas did grow to 12'+ but most are now 8'. In captivity more likely 6'-7' or even smaller.

The person has nothing to do with the comparison that I'm talking about...I mean to compare the bulk of the "myth" sized arapaima and it's actual recorded maximum length and bulk.

The bulk is not like that in reality. You have to know that it's just drawing and the larger pic was a large scale of the smaller one. Even the smaller one buld is not even supposed to be like that in reality. It should be a lil' bit slimmer.
