I bought my Jewel cichlids 2 days ago and they seem to be some what territorial, which the should. But I also have a Electric Yellow cichlid which is about 1''1/2 same with the Jewels. The Electric Yellow cichlid is chasing the smaller Jewel. I was wondering if they are playing or fighting.

I think they're fighting. I have a small turquoise jewel thats a little over 1" that will fight with my 1.5" auratus once the auratus goes after it ... mine lip lock and chase each other quite a bit

but to answer your question about if they're good tankmates or not...I think so...mine can hold his own...if you have a bigger tank and overstock a bit it helps also
