I was under the impression that snails were hermaphrodites but not asexual until this week. Seems my ramshorn snail who has for as long as we've had him been a loner has started leaving little jelly clusters packed with 4 or 5 yellow or orange eggs. I noticed them at first and thought they were deformations in the silicone but then more appeared elsewhere and then 2 days ago I noticed 2 tiny new snails moving about. Some of the egg clusters have been there for ages and dont appear to be hatching and others are new. Im not looking for an infestation, but this guy is actually kind of nice looking and a few more wouldnt be a bad thing, Im just curious how hes doing it.

ramshorns, pond snails, and MTS are asexual. your apple snails such as pomacea bridgesii (mystery snail) and pomacea canaliculata (giant apple snail) spixi snails and a few others are not asexual

Ramshorns are starting to multiply pretty quick. See a new baby every couple of days since the first one. Up to five from the original one. The smaller ones are really neat with brown speckling, I guess this has to do with diet as our big guy turned totally brown eventually, and I suspect these will also. For snails, they are actually pretty nice looking so we've decided to let our guppy tank be our snail tank too :).
