are stingrays illegal in texas?

Not only are the Illegal, but if you are cought with them and you don't own or have a import linsen with you are above the tank where they are kept. It use to be a mandatorie 3yr prison sentence. Now they have let up spme what{ not much but some } I just had a buddie lose his tanks and was fined $5,000.00 per stingray.
There is even a bigger fine for pike killi's.
 
Why are they illegal? They aren't endangered or anything, are they?
 
Texas is worried about someone releasing them in to the bodys of water in the area which they have a posibility of surviving in.
 
And as much as people laugh, that type of thing happens all the time. When I worked there, we were always going out and removing a pet from a pond it was released into.

The State of Texas takes illegal animals seriously.
