arowana and gar together

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No, it will not work. They will fight & kill each other eventually plus the arowana could spook the gar & cause it to break its back.

You may come across YouTube videos & forum posts that say it works, but few of these people are able to pull off the combination long-term regardless of the methods they used to "successfully" keep the two fishes together. They invariably lose one or both fishes, but few of them will actually own up to the fact that the combination didn't work.

I use to know a guy who had a 250 and had a 17inch marble gar and a 25inch silver arowana and it worked good, i havent talked to him in a while but i know he had 3 peacock bass in there too

the silver arowana wasnt very aggresive tho so idk

The combo isnt recommended if u wanted to do so i would start them out small and work it up. I have this combo and havent had any complications yet....but it all depends on the fish some get along some dont

there is no such thing as a marble gar! it might be a Florida gar and some time they do "survive" but not most of the time!

Why are people so sure? With any fish combo, it depends on the individual fish.....

The arowana is 22"+ and the Gar is 16". The combo could work but the tank WILL need to be upgraded.

Unfortunately I was not told this when I bought my fish... However there has been no problems so far... In my tank I have the following and as I say they are all getting along nicely at the moment...

1 x 10" Alligator Gar
1 x 12" Silver Arowana
1 x 8" Peacock Bass
1 x 10" Motoro Stingray
1 x 4" Siamese Tiger Dat
1 x 10" Tiger Shovelnose Catfish
1 x 7" Distichodus Sexfaciatus
1 x 7" Paroon Shark

I dont know how different Alligator Gars and Florida Gars are though?
