Today I noticed that my prized black arowana had a cut on his eye. It appears to only be in the 'spectacle', the clear tissue that covers the eye itself. It does not appear to have hit his iris or any other actual structure of the eye. It does not appear to cause him any distress. It has not affected his behavior or appetite.
I'm not sure what caused this. I suspect that he spooked and hit the lid of the tank. There's no sharp edges in the tank that could have caused this. The injury also isn't consistent with the injuries that I've seen my GATF inflict on other fish before, so I don't suspect that the GATF is the culprit.
What I'm wondering is if there's anything I should do to help this heal, or is this one of those things that just has to run its course? Will his eye heal or will he effectively lose it?
Thanks in advance for your insight
