Let me first say that i in no way condone aro fighting - in fact they are not sepated (much to my heartbreak).
This is pix info for those who wonder what the asian aro fight look like. Luckily not too much damage was done except for shredded fins and tails (X-back loss some scales). X-back is moving in with 2 DATs (ST) who are cycling the 6' tank for him.
I did not have the nerves of steel to let them fight it out then live peacefully - for all i know one might have gotten killed in the process. In any case, i have heard that all that fighting stresses them out and inhibits color developments ...
At some point i was afraid that BB develped lower protruding jaw from all that puffing and huffing.
In my case, the aros fought alot when there was change in lighting. That is, the lights were off all the time then it was sort of calm then the moment the light is turned on - all the fighting breaks out. Main offenders are BB and red (both a fairly large) but even X-back would join in the fray. Then all would be calm (truce?) until the lights went out then the fighting recommenced. Attempt to introduce a fourth aro failed miserably with BB completely going insane and chasing the green aro the tank. I was afraid that when green came around it would kill BB.
So, from the pix you can see:
- aros swiming almost insync - though not a breeding pair style
- aros ramming
- aros circling each other and performing 'crazy ivan' manuevers like in submarine warfare - with misses resulting in ramming
- aros puffing and huffing (all three): law jaw puffed up, pectorial fins spread out
- aros stalking each other
- all out fight between 3
then there are the results: shredded tails, fins etc
PS: what are my chances of making an X-back live out peacefully with 2 ST Dats? all are quite small still
